Alassio, which has just celebrated ist 1000th anniversary, has its origin in the legend of Adelasia (daughter of Emperor Otto I) who, together with Aleramo, found refuge in the territory of modern Alassio. Alassio is the Muretto: the idea of the Muretto was conceived in the 50s. The Muretto has become an important walk for the beauty contest Miss Muretto and for St. Valentine's day. The local cuisine offers fragrances and tastes from the Ligurian sea as well as from its hills. A typically Mediterranean cuisine is tied to what is offered by nature: olives, herbs, pine kernels, fish, vegetables. The Ligurian wines are renowned and appreciated all over Europe.
