Hotel information

Fattoria San Donato is a farmhouse and a tiny medieval village set amidst the classic green hills of San Gimignano. Its position also offers a marvellous charming view on this unique town and its surrounding countryside.

The Fenzi family, owners of the farm since 1932, are always available to offer you assistance when needed, but they will be very respectful of you privacy and peace.

Here, you can decide to enjoy full-time relaxation: wandering around the green park, lying by the swimming pool and its charming panoramic view or exploring the surrounding area (walking, riding and cycling).

Room information

The recently restored flats boast a traditional rustic charm with wooden-beamed roofs, red brick floors and wooden doors and windows. All are furnished according to the traditional Tuscan country 'arte povera' style and are all fully equipped with a host of amenities.

Each flat has its own private entrance, heating, fireplace with wood and an equipped kitchenette. The rooms are comfortably spacious and it is possible to add a spare bed.

Rooms are self-catered, so are not cleaned everyday. Daily cleaning can be provided for an extra fee. Final cleaning is included.

Food and beverages

Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 11.30 and is served in the small tavern or in the open air courtyard. The buffet includes traditional products like cereals, butter and croissants, and also jam, honey, homemade cakes, biscuits, seasonal fresh fruit and a wide range of seasoned meat and cheese.

A light lunch is available during the day between 12:00 and 18:00. It consists of a vast range of local products, including seasoned meat, cheese, fresh vegetables or vegetables pickled in oil or vinegar and is finished with the hotel’s vinsanto wine with cantuccini (almond biscuits). Lunch costs EUR 15.

It is advisable that you reserve for dinner. Dinner is served from 20:30 and is served in the tavern or, if the weather is nice, in our outdoor gazebo. The ingredients come from the hotel’s and neighboring farms and are made with family recipes. The food is healthy and enriched by the extra-virgin olive oil and wine (Chianti docg Vernaccia Vinsanto and grappa). Dinner is priced between EUR 23 and EUR 30 with special discounts for children.

From Rome:
- Take the A1.
- Exit at Val Di Chiana.
- Join the S.S. 71.
- When approaching Siena, follow the signs for Tangenziale and Firenze.
- Heading towards Florence, exit at Poggibonsi Nord and follow the signs for San Gimignano.
- Once you have reached the white panel reading Citta' Di San Gimignana (town of San Gimignano), at the roundabout, follow the signs for Volterra.
- After approximately 4.5 km, take the turning on the left to San Donato, the farm is right there.

From Bologna / Florence:
- Take the A1.
- Exit at Firenze Certosa.
- Take the freeway Siena-Firenze.
- Exit at Poggibonsi Nord and follow the signs for San Gimignano.
- Once you have reached the white panel reading Citta' Di San Gimignana (town of San Gimignano), at the roundabout, follow the signs for Volterra.
- After approximately 4.5 km, take the turning on the left to San Donato, the farm is right there.

From Pisa airport:
- Pass the sign for Navacchio and follow the Florence-Pisa-Livorno (FI.PI.LI) motorway.
- Pass the sign for Pontedera/Ponsacco and go on until you reach the exit for Pontedera Ovest-Ponsacco
- Pass the sign for Firenze/Livorno/Pisa and turn left.
- Keep driving along the Sp23 to Ponsacco.
- Go on along Ss439, after approximately 7km, turn left.
- Go on along Sp26, turn right and go on for approximately 70m before turning right onto the Sp26 for approximately 1.3km.
- Go on along Sp11 for approximately 15km and keep going via Castelfalfi.
- After approximately 250m, turn right and keep going along Sp26 for 1km via San Vivaldo to Montaione.
- Go on along Sp65 for 5km.
- Turn right and go along Sp4 for 726m.
- Go along Sp62 for approximately 2.3km.
- Turn left and go along Sp63 for approximately 650m.
- Turn left and go along Sp69 for approximately 6km.
- Turn left and head towards San Gimignano.
- Once you have reached town, at the roundabout, follow the signs for San Donato / Volterra.
- After approximately 4.5km, take the turning on the left to San Donato, the farm is right there.

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

All children under 3 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children under 2 years are charged EUR 0.00 per night and person for cots.
All older children or adults are charged EUR 10.00 per night and person for extra beds.
