Locanda La Mandragola is an antique villa, situated in a peaceful area in the northern part of the Rocca Park, in the middle of the old town.

The villa offers you a large panoramic garden, solarium and areas for relaxation, as well as a terrace overlooking the town. Furnished in a typically Tuscan style, all of the rooms have a splendid view and a private bathroom with shower, as well as additional amenities. A buffet breakfast is served in a classic hall.

Locanda La Mandragola is located at the borders of La Rocca di Montestaffoli Park and the ancient fortress of 1353 in a quiet position, a few steps from the lively main squares of the town. This is an antique villa, entirely and faithfully renewed, offering you 8 rooms with bathroom and all comforts, as well as a buffet breakfast.

Locanda La Mandragola has a wide garden with an English lawn, 2 central memorials of the last century, all surrounded by laurels, arbutuses and brooms, coloured by traditional roses and perfumed by jasmine flowers. In the equipped garden, guests can enjoy their time relaxing or sunbathing, with a view over the towers. The roof tower-terrace overlooks the landscape between the Val d'Elsa valley and the Florentine hills. There you can enjoy the dawn or the sunset, as well as the night panorama, when the moon rises among the towers and lights up the ancient stones of the town.

Room information

All rooms are decorated in a Tuscan style, with wooden beams and partitions in "senese" bricks. You will also find pictures by one of the most appreciated painters in San Gimignano. According to the tradition, the furniture is of Tuscan poor art style.

4 rooms face the garden, with a view over the towers, whilst another 4 rooms overlook the Rocca Park and the countryside.

Food and beverages

The inn only serves breakfast. However, 300 metres away, there is a restaurant that can offer you, as our guest, typical Tuscan dishes at special prices, such as truffles or suffron of San Gimignano, pork of Cinta Senese and Beef Chianina. The best regional wines are also available.

Area information

San Gimignano - An amazing architectural jewel of the Middle-Ages and an artistic rarity, full of history. In San Gimignano, you can visit several museums and churches and attend many festivals during the year, including New Year's Eve in the squares, the Carnival, the Fiere delle Messi (medieval festival in June with Knights Parade), the opera and the concerts during the summer.

Tuscan country - Famous all over the world, you can choose from walking tours, cycling tours, driving tours across the ancient little town and abbeys.

By Car:

- Locanda La Mandragola is in a picturesque lane parallel to San Matteo street (the main street of San Gimignano).
- When you are in San Gimignano, follow the signs to Montemaggio parking area number 2.
- After this, drive on for 200 metres and on the right, you will find Restaurant La Mandragola.
- Here, we will give you the driving pass to reach the inn for unloading and we will show you all available parking facilities.

- From Pisa: Take the Firenze-Pisa-Livorno motorway and exit Emoli Ovest.
- Take the SS429 road towards Siena until you reach Certaldo.
- Follow the signs to San Gimignano (13 km).

- From Florence: Take the A1 motorway towards Roma.
- Exit Firenze Certosa.
- Take the Firenze-Siena motorway towards Siena.
- Exit Poggibonsi Nord and follow the signs to San Gimignano (12 km).

- From Rome: Take the A1 motorway towards Firenze.
- Exit Siena Bettolle Valdichiana.
- Take the SS326 road towards Siena.
- At Siena, take the motorway towards Firenze.
- Exit Poggibonsi Nord and follow the signs to San Gimignano (12 km).
