The B&B is very close to the traditional Piazza Tolomei, at the Rocca Salimbeni, once a fortress and today headquarters of the bank Monte dei Paschi, and the elegant Via di Banchi di Sopra, with the most beautiful shops and boutiques for the shopping of the most refined clients.

Room information

The room of the old residence Casa del Giglio boasts really high ceilings and wall paintings while the count’s house has exposed beams. The Casa del Giglio is located in a beautiful building built by Papa Pio II Piccolomini for his brother Giovanni and designed by the architect Baldassarre Peruzzi. The old 13th century structure is still visible in 2 of the 4 bedrooms; high and wall painted ceilings and the windows, really bright, verlook the Piazza Provenzano.

The Casa del Conte is located in the oldest part of Siena, in Via di Stalloreggi, where a headstone has been set in a palace to remember the house where Duccio di Boninsegna lived and worked. In that workshop, in 1311, he painted the famous Pala della “Maestà” and once finished was taken in solemn procession along the street of Stalloreggi to the main altar of Duomo. Today the masterpiece is conserved in the OPA museum of Duomo together with other paintings. The windows, with iron bars, are from the second half of the 18th century and overlook the small Piazza del Conte, beating heart of the Contrada della Pantera with its fountain surmounted by a statue of a bronze panther.

Area information

Outside the B&B, you are just in front of Via del Capitano which leads into Piazza Duomo; on the right the fantastic Gothic façade can be admired while on the left the former hospital S. Maria della Scala has been transformed in a museum that hosts painting or sculpture exhibitions.

Tourists information

By Car:
1)Casa del Conte:
- Exit Siena Ovest and head towards Porta S.Marco.
- Cross it and take the 1st road on the right, Via delle Sperandie.
- Continue into Via Tito Sarrocchi where at the end of the road you have to turn left into Via S.Pietro then Piazza Postierla (also named 4 Cantoni).
- The 1st street on the left is Via Stalloreggi.
- Continue along this street until you get to the small Piazza del Conte where the residence is located.
- The reception is at number 18 of the same street.

2) Casa del Giglio:
- Exit Siena Nord and head towards Porta Camollia.
- Take Via Cassia Nord and continue straight towards Via Fiorentina.
- Carry on into Via Cavour and then Via Vittorio Emanuele II where at the end of the road, is Porta Camollia.
- Turn left into Via Don Minzoni and turn left again at the junction towards Via Garibaldi.
- Turn right at the traffic lights.
- Keep on Via Beccafumi until you get to Porta Ovile.
- Cross it and take the 2nd road on the left.
- Pass over the telepass and take the Via degli Orti.
- Continue towards Via dei Rossi and take the 3rd road on the left, Via del Refe Nero, which leads into Via del Giglio.
- The Residenza is immediately left at number 14.

Remarks

The reception of the 2 residences is located in the office in Via Stalloreggi, number 18.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later, the first night will be charged.
In case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.
