Hotel Orion is situated on the picturesque island of Kaag, accessible day and night by ferry. Surrounded by ponds and lakes, the island is the perfect place for water-related sports, such as sailing, canoeing, rowing and fishing.

De Kaag is a picturesque, typically Dutch village which is highly popular among tourists from the Netherlands and other countries alike. Business people also feel at home with us, because the hotel is peacefully situated at only 2 km from the A44 motorway offering a direct connection to Amsterdam and The Hague.

Its central location in the green heart of the Randstad conurbation means that many attractions are within easy reach, including the Keukenhof flower show, Madurodam and Duinrell. Schiphol airport and the beach at Noordwijk are a mere 10km, the cities of Amsterdam and The Hague 30 km, and Leiden 12 km away.

Hotel Orion has 24 rooms. The hotel also has special family rooms with 4 beds.
In addition, there is a dining room.
The terrace looks out onto a splendid, typically Dutch polder landscape.

For groups, barbecue facilities are available. On the island and by the Kagerplassen lakes there are several other good restaurants. From De Kaag, there are many beautiful cycling routes to the coast, the tulip fields or around the Kagerplassen lakes.

The Kagerplassen lakes are ideal for sailing and canoeing. Special routes will take you through beautiful natural scenery. Hotel guests can use our canoes free of charge from 18:00 o'clock.

Services available include sailing boat hire, a variety of restaurants, sailing schools, water-skiing exclusive marina, sailing trips, golf and paint ball.

The spacious conference rooms are equipped with a flipover chart, overhead projector, video, slide equipment and ventilation. For parties and receptions, we have a spacious room with a stage. The location is eminently suitable for conferences, seminars and family and holiday reunions.

The rooms are located on the 1st and 2nd floor and offer standard amenities. The rooms can be reached via a staircase.

Food and beverages

Hotel Orion is situated on a small island. Between 50 and 200 meters are 6 restaurants. Restaurant Tante Kee is the most expensive, but a 1st class restaurant and Restaurant De Twee Wilgen the cheapest, with a small choise and every day a various dish of the day.

Area information

Hotel Orion is situated on a small island, surrounded by the Kager-lakes. There is a possibility to rent sailingboats, motorboats and canoes and of course you can fishing in the lakes.
The central position gives you a start to visit Amsterdam and Den Haag, both 30km and the beach at Noorwijk or the city of Leiden, 12km. De Keukenhof is only 5km and Duinrell 20km.

Tourists information

By Car:
- From Rotterdam / The Hague, drive along the A4 motorway towards Amsterdam.
- Take the Kaag (dorp) exit and follow the signs towards Kaag (dorp) via Roelofarendsveen and Oude Wetering.
- Turn left immediately after the bridge in Oude Wetering and follow the ring canal until you reach Buitenkaag. That is where the ferry departs for Kaag (dorp).

- From Utrecht / Amsterdam, drive along the A4 motorway past Schiphol Airport and take the A44 motorway towards Den Haag Centrum.
- Take the Kaag (dorp) exit and follow the signs to Kaag (dorp) until you reach the ferry.

The ferry will take you to the island of Kaag. You will find us at Julianalaan 19. Kaag is reachable 24-hours per day by using the ferry. Ferry goes every 5 minutes. Costs; EUR 3.50 two-way ticket for a car including 4 persons.

By Public Transport:
Please note that the hotel is difficult to reach by public transport and it is recommended that you travel by car or bike.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.
All children under 2 years are charged EUR 7.50 per night and person for cots.
Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.

Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged.

VAT and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included.
Service charge is included.
City/tourist tax is not applicable.

Internet: Wireless internet is available in the entire hotel and is free of charge.
