Originally the home of the famous composer Antonio Vivaldi, this ancient building is ideally located in front of the lagoon and only few steps from St. Mark's Square.

Locanda Vivaldi Hotel is just on the right of the Church of La Pietà, where a lot of Vivaldi’s compositions, including ‘The Four Seasons’, were first performed. The hotel has been renovated to create a modern and intimate establishment, offering excellent facilities.

Situated in the heart of Venice, in Riva degli Schiavoni, the hotel stands in front of St Mark's Basin and is a short walk from the famous Square, an open-air theatre of the artistic and cultural life of the city. The magnificent views from the hotel sweep from the columns of St Mark’s Square to the Dogana’s point, from the Island of Giudecca with the nearby Island of San Giorgio, up to Lido of Venice.

Hotel Locanda Vivaldi was inaugurated at the end of 1999, after painstaking and long restructuring works on the building adjacent to the Church of Pietà.

In 1703, Antonio Vivaldi was ordained a priest and started to work as a violin teacher in the Pietà conservatory, where he remained until 1740.

After only 6 months of priesthood, Vivaldi no longer wished to celebrate mass. He was nicknamed the Red Priest and Goldoni explained that he was so-called because of his fire-red hair. According to other sources, this name was given to him because of his permanence at the Pietà Institute, where the 'daughters' of this hospice, his pupils, used to wear a scarlet colour.

All 27 hotel rooms are decorated according to the typical Venetian style and tradition.

Superior rooms overlook the lagoon; standard rooms overlook a small canal or our courtyard.

The hotel's small restaurant is on the rooftop terrace, overlooking Saint Mark's Basin. The cuisine is based on fish specialities. It is exclusively for guests and is open seasonally from May-October.

By Train:
- Santa Lucia Train Station is approximately one mile from the hotel along the Grand Canal.
- The hotel is easily reached by private water taxi and by public ferry transportation.
- All services stop at San Zaccaria ferry terminal, which is situated only a few metres from the hotel.

By Car:
- The garages where you can park your vehicle are the Tronchetto and San Marco.
- The hotel recommends the San Marco Garage because reaching the ferry terminal is easier from there.
- At the San Marco Garage, a discount applies for all of hotel clients.
- The Tronchetto Garage is located at the end of the Ponte Della Libertà.

By Plane:
- Venice Airport (Marco Polo International Airport) is approximately 7 miles from Venice.
- The hotel is easily reached by private water taxi.
- Treviso Airport is approximately 17 miles from Venice. The hotel can be reached by a bus service, which meets all principal flights.
- The service will arrive at Piazzale Roma (the main car park in Venice), where you can then catch the public ferry line number 51 or 1 to San Zaccaria.
